EMR-Based Treatment
Verification
While many equipment manufacturers’ provide a verification
system as an accessory to a treatment device, IMPAC provides
verification capability as an extension of the image-enabled
electronic medical record (EMR). The result is a single, central
EMR that provides independent verification, automatic setup,
accurate delivery, and thorough documentation of all treatment
modalities, regardless of equipment make or manufacturer. EMR
based verification provides a consistent treatment workflow and
staff security across multiple treatment devices, reducing staff
training and system maintenance.
Vendor Independence
Rather than developing a custom interface for each individual
device, IMPAC pioneered the concept of a ‘virtual’ interface’
designed to address a class of devices thereby enabling the
rapid development of interfaces to new devices and the simple
refinement of existing interfaces to support new device
functionality. Today IMPAC supports more machines/features than
any other vendor in the industry, and continues to be a key
driver in the quest for industry standards. And while the IMPAC
EMR conforms to the capabilities of individual machines, IMPAC
users still benefit from a consistent user interface for
treatment verification and charting.
Treatment Definition, Setup & Verification
With the ability to accept treatment planning data and images
from any DICOM-RT compliant system, IMPAC provides a fast and
accurate means of defining treatments. Once the treatment plan
is completed, IMPAC’s EMR includes template-based care plans
that help automate the generation of complex treatment
prescriptions and customizable treatment calendars to drive
machine set-up, verify machine parameters, and record actual
treatments; while, integral quality assurance and patient
positioning tools support pre- and post-treatment review and
analysis.
Open Device Connectivity
IMPAC’s commitment to open systems means that your center can
select best-of-breed planning and treatment solutions, and your
radiation oncologists can still access a single system to
perform virtual simulation, evaluate treatment plans, define
prescriptions, and review portal images, as well as complete the
other countless tasks that are essential to quality care.

IMPAC allows cancer centers to select best-of-breed
planning and treatment solutions, yet still benefit
from a single, complete EMR for ensuring quality of
care throughout the therapy process.
