Central EMR
Because the chart is the fundamental means by which healthcare
professionals communicate information about patient care, the
IMPAC electronic medical record (EMR) is the essential component
of IMPAC’s oncology management system. More than an ‘RV’ system,
the IMPAC EMR is an active clinical tool that includes features
designed specifically to handle the complexities of radiation
oncology.
DICOM RT Connectivity
Support for DICOM and DICOM RT means radiation oncology images
and plans from multiple vendor imaging, virtual simulation, and
treatment planning systems can be imported into the IMPAC EMR to
generate an accurate treatment prescription, as well as document
plan review and approval. And final plans and related images are
stored as part of the EMR for easy reference and retrieval.
Oncology CPOE
Computerized physician order entry (CPOE) for radiation oncology
includes template-based care plans that help automate the
generation of complex radiation therapy prescriptions and
supportive care. And customizable treatment calendars facilitate
the delivery of advanced treatment modalities such as intensity
modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), proton therapy, and now IGRT.
Pre-Treatment QA
In addition to enabling multi-modality treatments, the IMPAC EMR
also provides the basis for thorough, pre-treatment Quality
Assurance (QA). IMPAC’s QA Mode™ enables full validation of the
actual treatment plan without incurring dose to the patient
record. Furthermore fluence maps can be easily reviewed and
stored as part of the patient’s electronic chart.
Patient Positioning
Because IMPAC’s EMR is fundamentally image-enabled and
inherently vendor independent, reference and setup images
generated by a variety of devices are easily incorporated into
the therapy process. By streamlining the use of any positioning
technology –image and non-image based– IMPAC not only assists
with patient positioning during treatment, but enables trend
analysis across multiple patients and multiple technologies.
Independent Verification
Whether a cancer center has selected equipment from a single
vendor, or imaging, planning, positioning and treatment delivery
equipment from a combination of vendors, IMPAC streamlines
radiation therapy QA, setup, positioning, verification,
recording, and analysis as an extension of the image- enabled,
oncology EMR
Enabling Advanced Therapies
IMPAC’s radiation oncology EMR is designed to conform to
different types of machines as well as multiple modalities
including photon therapy, proton therapy, intensity modulated
radiation therapy (IMRT) and the latest advances in image-guided
radiation therapy (IGRT). The result is a system that supports
the entire therapy team, uniting diverse systems and devices to
provide a more intelligent process management solution.

By uniting diverse systems and devices, IMPAC
provides a central repository for all oncology data
and images, and a single tool to streamline the
cancer therapy process as a whole.
