Sunnyvale, Calif., February
29, 2008
Two of IMPAC’s oncology-specific Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
customers, The West Clinic and Palmetto Hematology Oncology,
have received Hematology & Oncology News & Issues (HONI)
magazine's HOPE (Hematology & Oncology Practice Excellence)
recognition award for "Clinical Best Practices."
Committed to using technology to the advantage of patient care,
The West Clinic was recognized for its "full usage of EMR;
robust clinical trials research program; use of extensive
clinical guidelines; and extensive use of technology." Priding
themselves in providing compassionate care to each of their
patients, Palmetto Hematology Oncology was described as a
“leader within their state and nation in embracing electronic
medical record technology.”
“We believe the use of an oncology-specific EMR can improve the
quality of patient care,” says Jay Hoey, Executive Vice
President Product Creation at Elekta and CEO of IMPAC Medical
Systems, “and are pleased that The West Clinic and Palmetto
Hematology Oncology were recognized as national leaders in their
field.”
Hematology & Oncology News & Issues’ HOPE initiative was created
to encourage the development of practice standard excellence
within community-based cancer centers. By providing examples of
the best models available, it is anticipated that the three-year
initiative will help reshape oncology practices.
The analysis of metrics-based information provided by each
center’s submission, as well as a blind balloting process
conducted by a HONI panel of experts, resulted in the final
selection of each center. To view the February issue featuring
