Mountain View, CA, 8 September, 2006
IMPAC Medical Systems, Inc. (IMPAC), an Elekta company and
leading provider of information technology (IT) solutions for
anatomic pathology and oncology care, announces that in the past
three weeks both Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) and
Health First Care System (Health First) went live with PowerPath
version 9 anatomic pathology system software in a clinical
setting.
With new features such as CAP Protocol Worksheet, enhanced GYN
Cytology Reporting with HPV reflex testing, worklist
enhancements, advanced case finding tools and optional modules
that include Immunohistochemistry Resulting (IHC) and Enhanced
Outreach Reporting, version 9 is one of the biggest releases
ever for the PowerPath product line.
PowerPath version 9 offers convenient password-based
customization of multiple worklists which helps OHSU manage its
20 different histology and cytogenetics worklists.
“Version 9 has really enhanced our ability to generate reports
that include the CAP protocols and presents immunohistochemistry
results in a much clearer format,” says Megan Troxell, MD, OHSU
pathologist. “The worklist enhancements have also been received
with excitement in our labs due to the flexibility in browser
views and reports. This flexibility has served us well in our
various specialty labs.”
PowerPath version 9’s Enhanced Outreach Reporting module enabled
Health First to create detailed and informative reports that
include body-site maps. Health First also uses PowerPath version
9’s HPV reflex module to automatically reflex HPV tests based on
clinician-requested patient diagnoses, and to send the tests to
a worklist for tracking purposes.
“We are
looking forward to using all of the additional features offered
with PowerPath version 9,” states Marco Burenko, M.D., Medical
Director at Health First’s Cape Canaveral Hospital. “Our
implementation went very smoothly due to the excellent on site
support during our go live.”
“IMPAC is pleased that OHSU and Health First have gone live
with PowerPath version 9 with such satisfactory results and are
confident that the new features in the version 9 release will
bring numerous improvements to their pathology operations,”
states George Rugg, VP and General Manager of IMPAC Medical
Systems, Inc.’s LIS Business Unit “We appreciate their
participation in our Beta program and are looking forward to
monitoring their clinical use of PowerPath version 9.”
Demonstrations and full details about PowerPath version 9 will
be available at the College of American Pathologists’ CAP ’06
conference in San Diego, CA, September 10 – 12 (Booth #57), the
100th Anniversary Congress of the International Academy of
Pathology (IAP) in Montreal, Canada, September 17-20, the
American Association of Pathologists’ Assistants (AAPA)
conference in Vancouver, British Columbia, September 27-28, and
at American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) annual meeting
in Las Vegas, NV, October 19 - 22.
