MOUNTAIN VIEW AND SAN
FRANCISCO, CA, June 1, 2006
IMPAC Medical Systems, Inc., an Elekta company and world’s
leading provider of oncology information technology (IT)
solutions, and Rocket Communications (Rocket), a professional
user interface (UI) design studio, announced today the release
of MOSAIQ™, IMPAC’s image-enabled oncology electronic medical
record (EMR) that features a powerful new user interface
designed in collaboration with Rocket Communications. Built upon
15 years of customer application and IMPAC innovation, MOSAIQ’s
robust database platform, and sophisticated user paradigm will
allow IMPAC and IMPAC customers to continue expanding the
horizons of oncology management over the next 15 years.
With Microsoft’s .NET and SQL database technology as its
foundation, the MOSAIQ platform is optimized for both local
area and wide area network implementations, and is structured to
help users view and analyze image and textual EMR information in
a familiar chart-based format. Fundamental to MOSAIQ’s
architecture is the ability to process DICOM and DICOM-RT
images, plans, data sets, and services required to support image
guided and adaptive therapy while providing the necessary
foundation for scaleable oncology image storage, retrieval, and
archive. With the ability to connect to multiple planning,
imaging, and treatment devices, MOSAIQ eliminates the forced
dependency on any single equipment vendor and offers a true
user-defined total solution that significantly improves
productivity and ROI while allowing more efficient, higher
quality patient care.
“MOSAIQ’s design is the result of
considerable input from our vast Multi-ACCESS™ user base. Based
on customer input, we’ve added new features and streamlined
existing ones with Rocket’s intuitive UI design. We believe this
will result in easier implementations, and faster, more
widespread user adoption of the richer and more highly developed
functionality our system offers versus that provided by
alternative products”, said Jay Hoey, president and CEO of IMPAC
Medical Systems, Inc. “Our current users will find MOSAIQ
familiar because the functionality is based on Multi-ACCESS; and
every user will appreciate the intuitive graphical UI because it
is modeled after the look of a patient chart. Most importantly,
MOSAIQ’s single user application that encompasses image-enabled
patient charting, oncologist’s documentation, scheduling, charge
capture, and billing, results in process-flow tools that are not
available with any competing product.”
“Bringing users into the design process is essential to
producing a great user experience,” added Michal Anne Rogondino,
Founder of Rocket Communications. “MOSAIQ must support users
with multiple roles and very different backgrounds including
physicians, nurses, therapists, administrators, and billing
professionals. Therefore it must be easy-to-use and intuitive
enough for the occasional user while supporting the needs of
‘power users’ who work all day long within the application. Our
new UI is designed to improve usability leading to easier
training, faster user adoption and increased value.”
IMPAC will exhibit MOSAIQ at the upcoming 2006 American Society
of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Annual Meeting, which will take
place June 2-6 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta.********
