IMPAC Medical Systems, Inc. (IMPAC), an Elekta company and
leading provider of information technology solutions for
anatomic pathology (AP) laboratories, and Aperio Technologies, (Aperio)
a global leader in digital pathology for the healthcare and life
sciences industry, announce the development of an interface
between PowerPath®, IMPAC’s AP laboratory information system
(LIS), and Spectrum™, Aperio’s digital pathology information
management system. The interface, now in development at both
companies, is designed to optimize workflow and facilitate
access of digital slide images and case data between the two
systems.
“Interfacing with PowerPath addresses the demands expressed by
many of our customers regarding the seamless integration of our
Spectrum image management (PACS) software, which includes the
ability to run our FDA-cleared IHC solutions, with a leading
LIS,” says Dirk Soenksen, CEO of Aperio. “We are very pleased to
be working with IMPAC in delivering an integrated solution to
the pathology laboratory.”
“It is clear that whole slide scanning and the viewing, analysis
and management of digital slide images are important
developments in anatomic pathology, and we recognize these
represent the beginning of a new era in process flow and data
management,” says George Rugg, SVP and General Manager of
IMPAC’s LIS business unit. “As a leading provider of anatomic
pathology LIS solutions, IMPAC is excited to be working with
Aperio to provide this solution to the AP community. It
reinforces our commitment to integrate proven new technologies
with PowerPath.”
Demonstrations and full details regarding the PowerPath-Spectrum
interface will be available at the United States and Canadian
Academy of Pathologists (USCAP) meeting in Denver, Colorado,
March 3-5. For additional information, visit IMPAC Medical
Systems at booth # 612 or Aperio at booth # 122.
