today introduces PowerPath version 9.0 anatomic pathology
information system. New features in version 9.0 include CAP
Protocol Worksheet support with SNOMED CT resulting – which
assists with ACS and CAP regulatory compliance, enhanced GYN
Cytology Reporting with HPV reflex testing, an advanced case
search tool, and laboratory worklist enhancements. PowerPath
provides unmatched performance in managing laboratories that
offer surgical pathology, cytopathology, dermatopathology, and
autopsy services.
The new CAP Protocol Worksheets, designed to meet the
requirements of the American College of Surgeons, allows the
user to advance effortlessly through each CAP cancer worksheet,
selecting data responses that are written to the patient report
and stored discretely for easy retrieval. The CAP data elements
are linked to SNOMED CT codes that can be transmitted through a
results interface.
PowerPath version 9.0 also includes an enhanced GYN Cytology
Reporting tool with configurable HPV Reflex Testing for pap
smears. This allows facility-specific or
referring-physician-specific rules for the type of pap results
that require HPV follow-up tests.
In addition, IMPAC is introducing new optional modules and
interfaces that are compatible with version 9.0, including
Immunohistochemistry Resulting, Enhanced Outreach Reporting,
advanced histology barcoding, and a cancer registry interface.
These optional modules streamline resulting, increase report
format options including color-coded body site maps for GI and
prostate specimens, and facilitate specimen tracking to improve
patient safety.

February 13-15, 2006, Lab InfoTech Summit in Las Vegas, NV from
March 1-3, 2006 and at CLMA/ThinkLab in Charlotte, NC from March
