the National Cancer Registrars Association’s (NCRA) Journal of
Registry Management (JRM) today to announce the recipients of
the annual IMPAC-JRM Best Paper Award. IMPAC and JRM, NCRA's
official publication, partnered on this annual award to
recognize authors published in the journal during the year 2006.
The awards will be presented to the authors during NCRA’s Annual
Education Conference, April 23-25, 2007, in Las Vegas, NV.
The 2006 Best Paper Award went to, “Time and Motion Study for
Collaborative Stage and AJCC TNM 6th Edition - Staging
Information Project (SIP),” published in the August 2006 issue
of JRM. Jeri Kostyra, CTR, Ingrid Friesen, HRT, Karen Starratt,
HRA(c), Jo-Anne Janzen, HRT, CTR, Les Mery, MSc, and Elaine
Hamlyn, CTR, CCHRA (A) co-authored this paper.
2006 Honorable Mention was awarded to “Introduction to the
National Program of Cancer Registries-Modeling Electronic
Reporting Project (NPCR-MERP),” also published in the August
2006 issue of JRM. Sandra F. Thames, Kenneth Gerlach, MPH, CTR,
Howard J. Martin, PhD, MS, MA, Timothy Carney, MPH, MBA, Lynne
T. Penberthy, MD, MPH, Michael Lanzilotta, and Steven Peace, BS,
CTR co-authored this paper.
“The Best Paper Award recognizes authors that publish the
highest quality papers on topics of special significance to
registry professionals,” stated Herman R. Menck, MBA, editor of
