IMPAC Medical Systems Expands Cancer Registry Sales Outside US

IMPAC to Provide Oncology Data Aggregation and Statistical Reporting Software to State of Victoria and South Western Sydney Health System in Australia

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Dec. 4 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- IMPAC Medical Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: IMPC), a leading provider of information solutions for cancer care today announced an agreement with the State of Victoria, Australia and South Western Sydney Health System in Liverpool, New South Wales, Australia for IMPAC to provide its cancer registry software for oncology data aggregation and statistical analyses. As part of the agreement, IMPAC will provide support and application customizations tailored to Australian oncology data collection and reporting requirements. The combined agreements exceed US $500K in products and support services over the next three years.

According to Helen Farrugia, director of information systems, Cancer Council of Victoria, "IMPAC's cancer registry system will provide us with the capacity to electronically receive and process incoming cancer registrations, allowing us to be more timely and efficient in our cancer surveillance and monitoring role. The IMPAC system provides us with the mechanism to capture additional clinical cancer items, which will expand our capacity for epidemiological and outcomes analysis. It was also important to us that IMPAC is willing to customize the application to reflect data fields and codes unique to Australia."

Dr. Martin Berry, director of cancer services for South Western Sydney Health System explained that the IMPAC registry system also allows the import and export of data from disparate sources thereby simplifying and accelerating compilation. "This aggregated data can then almost immediately be studied with on-the-fly statistical reporting capabilities," he said. "This capability combined with the system's close integration with IMPAC's comprehensive electronic patient record system is why we chose this particular cancer registry tool," he added.

"These significant orders are representative of IMPAC's efforts to further develop our presence worldwide. Supporting this effort, IMPAC plans to open its first office in Australia next month and add additional offices in Europe in 2004," stated David Auerbach, president, IMPAC Medical Systems Limited.
