Mountain View, CA, April 5, 2005
IMPAC Medical Systems,
Inc., part of the Elekta Group and a leading provider of
information technology solutions for oncology care, and Synovate
Healthcare, a specialist division of global research firm
Synovate, will align to supplement Synovate's global cancer
therapy audit with longitudinal oncology data that will enhance
Synovate’s current offerings and allow creation of new services
and insight into the market. In this multi-year agreement,
Synovate will license aggregated and de-identified data
collected from users of IMPAC’s leading oncology EMR and cancer registry
systems. This will enable Synovate to provide timely and
accurate, de-identified information to pharmaceutical and
biotech companies in an effort to further oncology research.
“This alliance will enable us to expand our current data
collection methods from paper to electronic – exponentially
impacting the speed of oncology data collected and
allowing us to better analyze, understand, and extrapolate
trends and outcomes in oncology care,” stated Michael Spedding,
CEO of Synovate Healthcare.
“IMPAC’s goal from the beginning has been to promote healthcare
technology to deliver practical solutions that will improve
overall communication, process efficiency, and the quality of
patient care,” added Joseph K. Jachinowski, president and CEO of
IMPAC Medical Systems. “Sharing the longitudinal data collected
from the National Oncology Database™ (NODB) solidifies our goals
and achievements over our 15 year history. This is a significant
development in market research that ultimately will be
demonstrated with improved patient care.”
This agreement represents a considerable step forward in market
research through the quantity and quality of longitudinal data
to be shared and analyzed. Synovate will gain access to the
electronic data of more than 2.3 million cases resident in the
IMPAC NODB and augmented by IMPAC software products and services
which span the spectrum of cancer care.
