Nevada Central Cancer Registry Selects IMPAC’s Précis-Central

NCCR Ranks IMPAC First with a Score of 95%

Mountain View, CA, June 6, 2003
Nevada State Health Division, Central Cancer Registry (CCR) announced the selection of Précis-Central, an enterprise-wide data management and reporting tool from IMPAC Medical Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:IMPC), to help registrars and physicians significantly improve efficiency throughout the entire central registry in Nevada.

According to Karen Power, MPH, program manager at CCR, the facility is excited about using the IMPAC system. CCR chose the IMPAC system after spending a significant time defining and documenting process and system requirements and evaluating software. “During the selection process, CCR defined hundreds of business functions, and vendors were evaluated on a variety of dimensions including their ability to meet those functions,” explained Power. “IMPAC scored the highest of the vendors with a 95% ranking on overall functionality, and a compiled score on the critical components of more than twice their competition.”

With Précis-Central, CCR will be able to efficiently collect, manage, and analyze patient demographic, tumor, and treatment outcome data for public health planning, epidemiological research, or enterprise-wide forecasting. “Précis is a great system for CCR because it combines the speed of automation with the expertise of the registrar to provide a faster, more efficient registry management solution,” said Donna Getreuer, RN, MSN, CTR, and IMPAC’s senior product manager for cancer registry systems. “With Précis, CCR will be able to gather accurate and complete data on the occurrence of cancer in Nevada to support measures for the improvement of public health,” she added.

CCR is one of 53 state and territorial central cancer registries in the United States that works closely with the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the National Program of Cancer Registries (NPCR) to collect data about the occurrence of cancer, as well as the outcome of treatment and clinical management.
