Association’s (NCRA) Journal of Registry Management (JRM) are
proud to announce the recipients of the 2002 IMPAC-JRM Best Paper
Award. Awards will be presented to the authors of the
prize-winning papers during NCRA’s Annual Education Conference on
Friday, May 16, 2003, in Pittsburgh, PA.
The Best Paper Award was won for “Experience in Developing E-path
Cancer Reporting For Rapid Case Ascertainment” by Dennis Deapen,
Herman R. Menck, Ina L. Ervin, Meryl Leventhal, and Joyce C.
Niland, JRM Summer 2002.
Two papers tied for Honorable Mention: “The Effect of Seasonal
Residence on Cancer Incidence”, by Francis P. Boscoe, and Colleen
C. McLaughlin, published in the Spring 2002 issue of JRM and “The
Impact of E-path Technology on the Ontario Cancer Registry
Operations”, by Darlene Dale, Jack K. Golabek, and Nelson Chong,
published in the Summer 2002 issue of JRM.
All papers appearing in the Journal of Registry Management in 2002
were eligible for consideration. The IMPAC/JRM Best Paper
Selection Committee for 2002 included Susan T. Gershman, MS, MPH,
PhD, CTR, director, Massachusetts Cancer Registry; Carol Johnson,
CTR, data quality specialist, SEER Program; Carol L. Lowenstein,
MBA, CTR, rapid case coordinator, Harvard School of Public Health
and Dana-Farber/Harvard Cancer Center; Jerri Linn Phillips, MA,
CTR, cancer data and quality management specialist, American
College of Surgeons; and Theola Rarick, CTR oncology registry
administrator, Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center and University
of Iowa Health Care.
