IMPAC Medical Systems, Inc. and Philips Announce
OpenRT Agreement
Program streamlines interoperability between the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Treatment Planning Systems

Mountain View, CA, March 11, 2003
IMPAC Medical Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:IMPC), a leading provider of information technology solutions for cancer care, today announced the signing of an OpenRTTM certification agreement with Royal Philips Electronics (NYSE: PHG; AEX: PHI). The OpenRT certification program was developed by IMPAC to forward strong working relationships with radiotherapy treatment planning vendors. IMPAC currently has signed agreements with NOMOS Corp., Computerized Medical Systems, Inc., and Philips.

OpenRT Certification establishes compliance, validation, deployment, and support standards for the interoperability of treatment planning systems with IMPAC’s Electronic Medical Record (EMR) in preparation for treatment delivery. “Providing reliable and predictable information transfer between medical devices requires collaboration beyond DICOM compliance. The OpenRT program showcases our commitment to continual improvement of both the interfaces themselves and the systems in place to support our customers who use them,” said Annette Coleman, market manager at IMPAC.

Joe Jachinowski, president and CEO of IMPAC added, “IMPAC initiated the OpenRT program to improve the interoperability and support of a multi-component, multi-vendor system. The combination of IMPAC’s DICOM communications product line with Philips’ Pinnacle3® treatment planning system provides integrated tools to improve overall process efficiency and quality of care.”

Ian Farmer, vice president and general manager of Radiation Oncology Systems, Philips Medical Systems concurred, saying, “We are very pleased to be working with the leading provider of Oncology Information Systems to ensure that DICOM interoperability between our products is seamless and efficient. We believe this agreement will significantly enhance our mutual customers’ satisfaction with inter-product workflow and after sales support.”
