IMPAC Medical Systems, Inc. & The Mattson Jack Group Join Forces to Produce CancerMETRICTM
A web-based oncology market information resource

Mountain View, CA, February 19, 2003
IMPAC Medical Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: IMPC), a leading provider of information technology solutions for cancer care, today announced a partnership with The Mattson Jack Group (MJG), a consulting firm specializing in decision support for the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries, to introduce CancerMETRIC™. CancerMETRIC is a new, web-based oncology informatics tool using MJG’s proprietary web interface. Powered by IMPAC’s National Oncology Database (NODB™), SEER Data, and MJG’s state-of-the-art modeling algorithms, CancerMETRIC improves knowledge and understanding of cancer treatment and trends, improves accuracy and consistency of cancer market information, and accelerates market understanding.

“Since 1990, IMPAC has provided integrated management solutions that combine core business functions such as scheduling and billing with a specialized electronic medical record (EMR) for oncology,” stated Joseph K. Jachinowski, president and CEO of IMPAC. “In 1997, IMPAC expanded its suite of products to include a full line of data aggregation and reporting tools that feed IMPAC’s NODB. This joint project efficiently delivers the fruits of those earlier efforts to the pharmaceutical and healthcare providers.”

According to Richard Martin, president and COO of MJG, “Making more informed and better decisions faster is increasingly important in the expensive and hypercompetitive healthcare industry of the 21st century. This is why we worked for almost two years with IMPAC to develop CancerMETRIC, which is the first database of its type designed to accelerate yet ease market evaluation and understanding of important and complicated issues surrounding cancer treatment and trends. IMPAC and MJG’s collaboration has resulted in a database that provides a depth and breadth of longitudinal, patient-based information that we feel is an order of magnitude above any other information resource currently available or under development.”

Jachinowski and Martin agree that IMPAC and MJG are both at the forefront of oncology informatics. Jachinowski continued, “IMPAC provides sophisticated, yet practical cancer registry and EMR solutions capable of compiling valuable oncology data, and MJG provides the analytical tools, skills, and oncology market knowledge to turn raw data into valuable information for decision support.”
