Mountain View, CA and Cupertino, CA. October
8, 2002
Packeteer™, Inc. (NASDAQ: PKTR), a leading
provider of application-intelligent traffic management solutions,
today announced that IMPAC Medical Systems, Inc., a leading
provider of integrated information technology systems for cancer
care, has chosen to deploy PacketShaper™
systems with
IMPAC software system installations. IMPAC will also resell the
PacketShaper system to healthcare providers who wish to monitor
and control their network traffic independently.
IMPAC’s oncology IT solutions include a clinical chart designed
specifically for the complexities of cancer care, integrated with
imaging, practice management, and data aggregation and reporting
solutions. IMPAC provides solutions that effectively streamline
cancer center management for better overall communication, process
efficiency, and quality patient care.
“Our applications are critical to our customers and have to
respond in milliseconds; when managing cancer treatment no
information can be lost,” said Jay Hoey, COO of IMPAC.
“Competition for bandwidth on wide area networks can make this
difficult at times. Using PacketShaper as a way to manage our
customers’ traffic means that our applications – the critical
applications – are getting the bandwidth and the priority they
need to perform.”
PacketShaper is an application-intelligent traffic management
system that delivers predictable, efficient performance for
applications running over the WAN and Internet. The combination of
its layer-7 classification, analysis, control, and reporting
capabilities enables network administrators to keep critical
traffic moving at an appropriate pace through bandwidth
bottlenecks and prevents any single type of traffic from
monopolizing the link.
“As a leader in the field of cancer treatment management, IMPAC is
a strong partner for Packeteer in the healthcare market,” said Jim
Baker, vice president of sales for Packeteer, Americas. “We look
forward to working with them to improve performance of their
application on customer networks.”
