IMPAC Medical Systems, Inc. Announces Agreement with US Oncology

Mountain View, CA, June 4, 2002
IMPAC Medical Systems, Inc., a leading provider of integrated information technology systems for cancer care, and US Oncology, the largest provider of oncology services in the United States, announced today a five-year agreement to deploy IMPAC’s integrated oncology management system software in the over 75 comprehensive cancer centers operated by US Oncology, nationwide.

As the largest provider of cancer care services in the United States, US Oncology conducted an extensive vendor selection process. Critical performance criteria included the ability to manage advanced radiation treatments such as IMRT (Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy), an integrated electronic medical record (EMR) with image management capability, and seamless integration with such core business functions as scheduling, authorizations tracking, and charge management. IMPAC’s system will also act as the integration hub for treatment planning and delivery devices connecting equipment from multiple vendors – Philips Medical Systems, CMS, and Varian Medical Systems – directly to IMPAC’s EMR.

IMPAC’s EMR, core business functions, and other applications will be hosted at IMPAC’s Redwood City, Calif. ASP data center and deployed over the next two years beginning in July 2002. IMPAC will also supply and support the complete computer and local and wide-area networking infrastructure as well as address all of the wide-area telecommunications requirements.

“We are very pleased to have been selected by US Oncology. From our inception over 12 years ago, our objective has been to provide integrated, clinical and administrative information and process management solutions to cancer centers, regardless of organizational structure. US Oncology’s selection re-affirms this vision, giving their network of cancer centers the ability to efficiently manage high-quality cancer care and access patient data in a secure manner regardless of their location in the United States,” stated Joseph K. Jachinowski, IMPAC President and CEO.

According to US Oncology Vice President and General Manager, Bill Herman, “As a leader in cancer care, we look for relationships that benefit both our patients and our staff. By implementing IMPAC’s integrated system, our centers will be able to deliver advanced treatments such as IMRT, communicate more effectively, and streamline process management all while maintaining high quality care standards.”
