IMPAC Medical Systems, Inc. and the National Cancer
Registrars Association’s (NCRA) Journal of Registry Management (JRM)
today announced the recipients of the annual IMPAC-JRM Best Paper
Award. IMPAC and JRM, NCRA's official publication, have teamed up
on this annual award to recognize authors published in the journal
during the year 2001. The awards will be presented to the first
authors of the two prize-winning papers during NCRA’s Annual
Education Conference, May 21-24, 2002, in Nashville, Tennessee.
The Best Paper Award was won by, “Population-based Patterns of
Care Studies: Collaboration Among State Cancer Registries, the
American College of Surgeons, and the American Cancer Society”
published in the spring 2001 issue of JRM. Phyllis A. Wingo, Elyse
Luke, Kate O’Brien, Donna J. Brogan, Vivien W. Chen, Xiao Cheng
Wu, Thomas Tucker, Holly W. Howe, Frances Ross, Shannon Vann,
Andrew Stewart, Joan S. Chmiel, JoAnne Sylvester, Rosemarie E.
Bumpus, and Tiefu Shen wrote this paper.
"Validation of a Co-Morbidity Education Program” published in the
fall 2001 issue won the Honorable Mention Award. Amy S. Johnston,
Jay F. Piccirillo, Cynthia Creech, Benjamin Littenberg, Donna
Jeffe, and Edward L. Spitznagel wrote this paper."
The Best Paper Award is granted to authors publishing the highest
quality papers addressing topics which are significant to registry
professionals,” stated Amy Fremgen, PhD, CTR, and editor of
