Mountain View, CA, November 1, 2001
IMPAC
Medical Systems, Inc., today announced the results of an ROI study
conducted on their Multi-ACCESS™ Authorization Tracking System™, a
revolutionary product designed to help users track important
authorization and referral information including – authorization
numbers, applicable dates, visit limitations – and helps users
manage pending expirations or exceeded limits.
IMPAC recently conducted a productivity/usability study in
conjunction with 13 billing professionals at Hematology Oncology
Associates of Central New York (HOACNY). The study found an
average savings of 1.5 hours of time per day for billers using
IMPAC’s Authorization Tracking System. “We have decreased manual
labor and made authorizations tracking a miniscule part of our
billing jobs, which is what it should be,” states Karla Bowles,
Billing Director at HOACNY. “The real issue is securing
authorizations not counting them; the person performing code
capture now has little chance for human error in securing
authorizations. IMPAC’s Authorization Tracking System accomplished
exactly what we needed.”
In addition to automating authorizations tracking, IMPAC’s
Authorization Tracking System tracks authorization numbers and
attaches the numbers to procedure charges, increasing
reimbursements and decreasing denials. Authorization reports are
included, providing work lists of charges, expiring authorizations
within a specified date range, and/or patients missing
authorization numbers. “The release of the Authorization Tracking
System has allowed our customers to see a significant time savings
as well as decreased denials and timely payment for services
rendered,” states Joe Jachinowski, President and CEO of IMPAC.
“IMPAC strives to help providers save time and money with an
integrated administrative and clinical solution that improves
overall communication, process efficiency and quality of care.”
