IMPAC Medical Systems and Siemens Medical Announce Agreement to Service Oncology Centers Worldwide

Mountain View, CA, May 3, 2001
IMPAC Medical Systems, Inc., and Siemens Oncology Care Systems today announced the signing of a distribution agreement enabling Siemens to distribute IMPAC’s integrated clinical and administrative management systems to oncology practices worldwide.

The agreement covers a five-year term and allows Siemens to package IMPAC’s radiation and medical oncology management software with their treatment equipment to address the comprehensive needs of an oncology department. According to the agreement, Siemens will continue to translate IMPAC’s software into multiple languages to address local language needs in worldwide markets. The renewed partnership continues the business relationship first established in 1992 and extends the opportunity to jointly access world markets, providing customers with the ability to interface with virtually any treatment device and planning system.

Since 1990, IMPAC has been the leading provider of image and data management software for cancer therapy and continues to provide the most advanced and comprehensive clinical and administrative oncology practice management systems worldwide. IMPAC’s productivity solutions include interfaces with the top treatment planning, linear accelerator, and radiotherapy simulator vendors, as well as with various laboratory and hospital information systems.

“We are very pleased to renew our agreement with Siemens Oncology Care Systems and feel this is a testament to the strong relationship IMPAC and Siemens have build over the past 9 years. Siemens and IMPAC have the largest installed base of customers in the world with over 2000 installations in 45 countries and this agreement will extend the reach of our solutions even further” stated Joseph K. Jachinowski, IMPAC President and CEO. “This joint effort between IMPAC and Siemens will enable cancer centers worldwide to treat patients with the most advanced cancer therapies available in a cost effective manner.”

According to Pat Boyle, president of Siemens Oncology Group, "Siemens is excited about this continued long-term relationship with IMPAC. One of the initiatives in Siemens global medical strategy is that of providing "best practice integration." The clinical networking capability provided by IMPAC is augmented by the value added of Siemens treatment innovations.
