IMPAC Medical Systems,
Inc. and the Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) are proud to announce
Elizabeth Gomez RN, MSN, AOCN® of Ridgefield, Conn., as the
recipient of the annual ONS/IMPAC Medical Systems, Inc. Excellence
in Nursing Informatics award. IMPAC and ONS have teamed up on this
annual award to recognize outstanding service in the practice of
oncology nursing within eHealth. The award will be presented to
Ms. Gomez on May 16, 2001 during the Publishing Council Reception
at the ONS Annual Conference in San Diego.
Ms. Gomez, who was nominated by her peers for exemplary service in
nursing and commitment to the improvement of electronic learning
and communication, is currently the Editor of ONS Online. ONS
Online provides a large and diverse user group of nurses, patients
and other health care professionals up-to-date clinical and
nursing information, a catalogue of publications and products as
well as, legislative updates in the oncology field. In the role of
Editor Ms. Gomez is responsible for selecting and developing
content appropriate for ONS Online as well as integrating the
Society’s various programs into the site’s architecture.
Ms. Gomez is extremely active in professional, civic, and social
organizations including the National Breast Cancer Awareness Month
and Nurses For A Healthier Tomorrow, she is the Webmaster for her
hometown of Ridgefield, Connecticut, and she is the webmaster for
http://www.lungcancer.org. As an accomplished writer, Ms.
Gomez has been published numerous times including: Manual for
Radiation Oncology Nursing Practice for Oncology Nursing Press,
Inc., a recurring feature, “Tech Talk” in ONS News, and “Pain,
Abdominal Radiation, Total Body Irradiation, Total Lymphoid
Irradiation and Total Skin Irradiation” in Standards of Care:
Radiation Therapy.
Additionally, Ms. Gomez is a Partner at Newtonnet Productions, LLC.,
a health information company that focuses on developing quality
content for both the print and electronic distribution. Ms. Gomez
holds a Master of Science in Nursing as an Oncology Clinical Nurse
Specialist from Columbia University as well as a Bachelor of
Science in Nursing from Villanova University where she graduated
Cum Laude. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau.
