Sunnyvale, CA, March 5, 2009
Impac Software, part of the Elekta Group and leading provider of
software solutions for anatomic pathology (AP) laboratories
today announced the introduction of PowerPath version 9.3,
including new features and interfaces – all to be demonstrated
at USCAP conference in Boston, March 9-11, 2009. PowerPath v9.3
includes updates to the Advanced Materials Processing (AMP)
module and the Document Management module, as well as new
interfaces for digital pathology and diagnostic reference
systems.
Advanced Materials Processing (AMP) version 3
The AMP materials tracking solution drives the workflow of a
histology lab by tracking materials through the lab – from the
receipt and processing of tissue specimens, through the creation
and tracking of blocks and slides, to managing specimen discard.
Document Management
Batch processing has been added to this popular feature to
further streamline administrative tasks in the lab. Users can
now process many documents at once using our bar coding
technology. Simply label the documents for the case—then set
aside the paperwork, and scan the entire set as a batch when
convenient. PowerPath reads the bar code and auto assigns
documents to respective PowerPath cases.
Digital Pathology Interfaces
This interface connects PowerPath to the digital pathology
system to optimize case workflow. The interface is
bi-directional and keyed from the bar coded slides generated by
PowerPath’s AMP module. Upon completion of the slide imaging
event, slide thumbnails and region of interest images are sent
to PowerPath to store with other case data.
Diagnosis Reference Integration
Users may access the experts from the PowerPath case by
automatically linking to their PathIQ® ImmunoQuery® Custom Sync™
subscription. With this interface, users may view
recommendations for special stains and published study reference
materials.
“Impac Software is committed to integrating new technology with
PowerPath,” says George Rugg, SVP and General Manager of Impac’s
LIS business unit, “and as an LIS provider we recognize that
these systems produce data which must be integrated with other
case information. Lab technology is advancing so rapidly that
the only way to accomplish this is with frequent releases and
easy access to those releases through a streamlined upgrade
program. Impac Software does both.”
Demonstrations of the new features and interfaces available with
PowerPath version 9.3 will be available March 9-11 at the United
States and Canadian Academy of Pathology (USCAP) Annual Meeting
in Boston, Massachusetts. PowerPath demonstrations also will be
available at the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia (RCPA)
Pathology Update 2009 conference, March 13-15, in Sydney
Australia and the Lab InfoTech Summit March 16-18 in Las Vegas,
Nevada. For additional information, visit Impac booth 726 at
USCAP, Impac booth 26 at RCPA, and Impac booth 19 at Lab
InfoTech Summit, or visit us online at www.impac.com/pathology.
