IMPAC Medical Systems, Inc., the leading provider of image and
data management software for cancer therapy since 1990, announced
today at the annual meeting of the American Urological Society the
launch of its Multi-ACCESS™ management system for urologists.
Previously, IMPAC has focused on oncology markets (radiation
oncology, medical oncology and surgery) where its software is
currently installed in more than 1,400 centers in 45 countries
worldwide, and manages the daily care of more than 50,000 cancer
patients. Now, IMPAC has expanded its products to include an
electronic medical record and practice management applications
designed specifically for the medical specialty of urology, which
the company defines as a “synergistic adjacency.”
“Over the last 10 years, IMPAC has successfully delivered an
innovative yet practical management system to meet the evolving
and complex needs of our radiation and medical oncology
customers,” said Joseph K. Jachinowski, president and co-founder
of IMPAC Medical Systems, Inc. “During that time, we have seen
that urologists have similar information needs and challenges, and
they often work closely with radiation and medical oncologists in
treating patients with prostate, kidney or bladder cancer. Because
of these ‘synergistic adjacencies,’ we have customized
Multi-ACCESS to provide urologists with the same improved
communication, process efficiency and quality of care that our
oncology customers value.”
Multi-ACCESS, IMPAC’s flagship product, is a comprehensive
management system designed to meet the needs of private practices,
hospital-based departments and geographically separate, integrated
healthcare delivery networks. Multi-ACCESS is unique in its
integration of core business functions, such as scheduling and
billing, with an extensive electronic medical record. eCHART™
includes such core charting features as patient diagnosis,
customizable assessments and orders management. PhAST Note™
expands eCHART to include automated noting capability and E&M
coding assistance, and ViewStation™ provides complete EMR support
for medical images.
Multi-ACCESS is comprised of several applications, all of which
are completely integrated, sharing a common database, user
interface and cross-functional features that streamline the entire
process. These include:
-
Multi-Department Multi-ACCESS -
Multi-ACCESS is available in both single and multi-department
configurations. Multi-department Multi-ACCESS is ideal for
multi-department or multi-facility organizations that want to
maintain separate schedules and billing records, yet share a
common patient database for system-wide patient management and
reporting.
-
Multi-ACCESS ASP - Multi-ACCESS is
designed to run on a local or wide area network, or it can be
operated as an ASP (Application Service Provider). With
Multi-ACCESS ASP, the system is maintained at IMPAC’s data
center and operated by users via the Internet. Multi-ACCESS ASP
users enjoy all the advantages of Multi-ACCESS – full-featured
registration, scheduling, charge capture and electronic charting
– without having to worry about system maintenance.
-
Multi-ACCESS ESP - Multi-ACCESS
ESP (Essential, Secure, Portable) provides the ability to access
Multi-ACCESS data – appointments, patients’ charting data,
contacts and quality checklist items – via a PDA (Personal
Digital Assistant). IMPAC customers can use Microsoft® Outlook®
to stay in sync (Portable Multi-ACCESS), or access Multi-ACCESS
via the Web using a wireless Internet provider.
