IMPAC Medical Systems and Siemens Medical Solutions Renew Ten-Year Business Relationship

Mountain View, CA, April 23, 2002
IMPAC Medical Systems, Inc., the leading provider of integrated clinical and administrative management systems for cancer specialists, announced today the renewal of its business relationship with Siemens Medical Solutions, marking ten years of mutually successful business collaboration. Since 1992, Siemens and IMPAC have installed more than 1,000 oncology management systems worldwide and jointly developed software solutions to improve the process of delivering quality patient care.

IMPAC’s Version 6 software, scheduled for release this spring, will deliver faster, more streamlined intensity modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) for patients treated on Siemens’ PRIMUS® and Digital Mevatron® linear accelerators. Siemens’ patented SIMTEC® treatment delivery approach is already delivering IMRT in more than 100 institutions with the current IMPAC solution. Version 6 will extend IMPAC’s support to include Siemens IM-MAXX™ IMRT Field Sequencer and HD-270™ MLC.

“This long-term relationship has been successful because of the complimentary nature of IMPAC’s and Siemens’ strengths, which enables the companies to stay on the forefront of oncology management and treatment delivery. Both companies look forward to another ten years of providing innovative – yet practical – solutions to the demands of the field,” said Joe Jachinowski, president and CEO of IMPAC.

Ajit Singh, Ph.D., president of Siemens Oncology Care Systems added, “Siemens’ strength is having all of the enablers for oncology care -- from screening and diagnosis to treatment and follow-up. The imaging and workflow solutions of the product portfolio augment the IMPAC patient management software with the necessary backbone for Image Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT).”
Siemens and IMPAC each market this collaborative product offering worldwide. Siemens packages this solution under the product name LANTIS® Oncology Management Systems.
