CansurFacs-Abstractor: IMPAC’s Cancer Registry Data Abstracting and Reporting System

Mountain View, CA, February 12, 2001
IMPAC has just released a new addition to its line of registry products. CansurFacs-Abstractor is a data abstracting system designed to support central registries in the offline abstraction of cancer cases for subsequent roll-up into a central registry system. Now abstractors who do not have a full-fledged ACoS/CoC approved registry system can submit the required reports to state central registries in a safe and efficient manner.

CansurFacs-Abstractor meets the regulatory requirements for ICD-O classification as well as requirements set by SEER, ROADS, TNM, and NAACCR. “CansurFacs-Abstractor has all the attributes of a traditional registry system; it’s easy to learn and use, it comes with specialized screens that conform to specific state reporting requirements, and it’s accepted by state and provincial central registries in North America,” states IMPAC’s Senior Product Manager for Cancer Registry Systems, Donna Getreuer, RN, MSN, CTR, “but best of all, CansurFacs-Abstractor is a cost-effective solution that allows registrars to make more efficient use of their time. And when a registry is ready to seek ACoS/CoC/CoC approval, CansurFacs-Abstractor is easily upgraded to the CansurFacs Data Management System, a comprehensive registry documentation and analysis system.

To ensure the integrity and safety of data, CansurFacs-Abstractor includes comprehensive quality assurance features such as regular online validation and correction, and extensive inter-field integrity reviews. Additionally, CansurFacs-Abstractor’s user security allows for different levels of data access depending on the rights assigned by the system administrator. User security levels include full access for users who need to modify and maintain the database, modified rights for users who abstract only, and minimal rights for users who only need to view data.
